Dana White denies America 250 UFC fight at White House will be ‘political,’ ‘not at all’ about politics

ufc President and CEO Dana White insisted that plans for a UFC fight at the White House in celebration of America 250 in June are not “political.”
“Not at all,” White said TIME Magazine on Tuesday. “Well, it’s America’s birthday! I mean, it’s America’s 250th birthday. What better place to celebrate than the White House?”

He continued, “And what you have to understand about me is that I respect whoever the President of the United States is. It’s not about red or blue or politics for me. I’m friends with the people on the far left, and I’m friends with the people on the far right, and I see myself right in the middle.”

White He elaborated on his comments.He argued that this would not contradict his claim that he had “nothing to do with politics” after supporting President Donald Trump in 2024.

“You can make something political “If you want,” White said. “I love this country like everyone on the left loves this country. I love this country like everyone on the right loves this country. That essentially means I’m spending a ton of money to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with America and the rest of the world.”

White maintained his decades-long friendship with Trump, especially after Trump supported the UFC by hosting events at his casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. That friendship led to White eventually speaking in support of Trump at the Republican National Convention in 2024.

“Everybody said, ‘Don’t do it. Don’t do it,'” White told TIME Magazine. he said. “This was more than ‘You don’t want to get into politics.'” The biggest one was ‘He’ll never win’. “And I thought, ‘Whether he won or not, this guy was a good friend to me.'”
In 2025, White revealed that it was Trump who came up with the idea. UFC event idea at the White House in honor of the America 250 celebration.

“When you walk around the White House with him, he’s very proud of the White House, he loves it very much, and he loves America. He believes the White House belongs to the people of America,” White said. “He wants to do more things, like kids coming over for Easter egg hunts, events around Christmas, and special events… That’s his thing. He wants to bring more Americans to the White House. His point was: ‘This is your house.’ “I was lucky he said, ‘We have to fight here.'”

The “UFC Freedom 250” fight is scheduled to take place on June 14 in front of the White House. This will coincide with Flag Day and Trump’s 80th birthday.
