Moment furious farmer sprays slurry on dozens of luxury cars – including Mercedes, Jaguars and BMWs – after they parked illegally in his Lake District field to enjoy the heatwave
An angry farmer sprayed mud on dozens of cars illegally parked in a field at the beauty site during a heatwave.
Phone footage showed at least 20 vehicles, including Mercedes, Jaguars and BMWs, parked covered in mud on private land near Rydal Water in Cumbria’s Lake District.
At the beginning of the video there is a sign saying ‘Polite Warning – DO NOT PARK IN THE FIELD’ and another sign saying ‘SHEP IN THE FIELD’.
A black Mercedes appears to have been soaked in a mixture of manure, while other angry owners are seen assessing the damage.
Parking at the beauty spot has been a long-standing problem, with added pressure during public holidays and summer periods.
Cumbria Police had previously warned visitors to the national park to park their vehicles in a ‘suitable location’ that complies with ‘highway rules’.
Dylan Wakley, 25, recorded the video at 3.20pm while driving to Buttermere with his partner Emma Hudson, 24.
The farmer, from Lyme Regis, Dorset, who was on holiday at the time, said he had no sympathy for the owners.

Cars parked on the field were soaked from the fertilizer mixture. The vehicles were later seen queuing at a car wash in the nearby town of Ambleside.
He said: ‘I can’t really blame the farmer. These drivers ignored the sign and went out of their way to park on the field, fair enough.
‘Every farmer who deals with tourists has dreamed of doing this. I call them the poor farmer because I had to put up with them.
‘Imagine coming back from a long walk and your car being covered in mud, it’s awful. But it’s their own fault.
‘This acts as a good deterrent and is truly justice.’
Dylan says he has heard of vehicle owners parking there after moving rocks that were deliberately placed on the site to prevent people from accessing the property.
He also said people should ‘remember to be considerate’ and have some ‘common sense’ when on holiday, which he said ‘sometimes people forget’.
Dylan said he visited Ambleside later the same day and saw a queue of cars forming outside the local car wash.
Other people also posted online to support the farmer.
One said: ‘Never mess with a farmer and never park in his field.’
Another said: ‘I wish there was a water shortage and the car wash was closed.’
One local said: ‘He should get a bonus from the car wash company.’
Another said: ‘This guy must be really angry. The absolute disrespect of some people.
‘If it were my turf I would have done much worse for having the audacity to ignore my signs. He also needs the crap he spends on these cars, so he’s essentially at a double loss here.’
Cumbria Police said in a social media post: ‘If you are parking somewhere, make sure it complies with highway rules and that you park in a suitable location that will not impede any motorists, especially emergency vehicles who may need to pass.’

A Cumbria police spokesman said: ‘Police were made aware of reports of suspected cow mud being sprayed on cars at a location near Rydal at 10pm on 25 May.
‘Our Neighborhood Policing Teams are carrying out further investigations to establish the full circumstances.’
They also said the cars appeared to be parked on a rancher’s property without permission.
The farmer believed to have sprayed the slurry has been reached for comment.
