EQT appoints Nicholas Macksey and Hari Gopalakrishnan as co-heads of Private Capital Asia

MUMBAI: Global private equity firm EQT has appointed Nicholas Macksey and Hari Gopalakrishnan as co-heads of Private Equity (PC) Asia, the investment firm said on Thursday.

EQT closed its ninth private equity fund with total commitments of $15.6 billion in April, making it the largest private equity fund raised to date in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Asia continues to offer some of the most compelling long-term investment opportunities globally, particularly across technology, services and sectors benefiting from structural growth and rising domestic demand,” Gopalakrishnan said.

“We remain extremely optimistic about the opportunities ahead for EQT in Asia,” Macksey added.

Currently serving as partner and head of EQT’s middle market opportunities (MMO) strategy in Asia, Macksey helped establish the firm’s cross-border strategy and contributed to many of EQT Asia’s most significant investments, including Nord Anglia Education, Vistra and Clarivate. Gopalakrishnan joined the firm in 2007 as a founding member of the India team and currently serves as head of private equity India and co-head of global services.
