Luke Littler She received an MBE at Windsor Castle and had the opportunity to chat with Prince William while there. The future king showed his love for the sport by supporting Premier League club Aston Villa – but now Littler wants him to join darts.
Luke Littler said Prince William thought the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace “looked like a nice night out”. On May 19, the world number one, aged just 19, was awarded the MBE for his contributions to the sport. Littler said it was a “wild experience” and revealed that William told her he was “following her journey.”
She also said the royal told her the Ally Pally event looked like “a good night out.”
Asked by reporters whether he had invited William, Littler said he had not but was sure something could be arranged.
“If he needs some tickets, I’m sure either myself or the PDC (Professional Darts Company) will be able to arrange some.”
The two-time world champion then told the future king he would be welcomed at the World Championships.
Prince William is a keen football supporter and was supporting Aston Villa when they won the Europa League in Istanbul last week.
After beating German outfit Freiburg 3-0, Villa posted on social media: “Fabulous night! Huge congratulations to all players, team, staff and everyone associated with the club! Forty-four years since our last taste of European silverware!”
“A special thank you to Boubacar Kamara, who was injured but was an integral part of our team and helped lay the foundations for this success.”
Villa defender Matty Cash later revealed: “He was there having a beer with us. He was so happy. He was such a great supporter.”
“He always comes to the training ground, always comes to Villa Park. And he deserves moments like this and hopefully he can let his hair down today.”
