Iconic Caledonian Sleeper train gets Outlander makeover with new special menu

Caledonian Sleeper coaster reveals dramatic new livery celebrating hit television series ForeignIt’s a transformation that star Sam Heughan praised as “exciting and surreal”.

The four carriages were adorned with striking designs depicting memorable moments from the show and were accompanied by the message “Discover Scotland, Home of Outlander”.

This “visual takeover” aims to inspire fans to visit the Scottish locations where the series was filmed, encouraging travel through the nightly service connecting London and Birmingham with destinations across Scotland.

Heughan plays Scottish Jamie Fraser Foreignwas at London Euston station on Thursday to reveal the newly decorated train.

The initiative is a collaboration between tourism and events organization VisitScotland and Sony Pictures Television.

Passengers can also look forward to it. ForeignThe inspiring menu onboard this summer will feature Sam Heughan’s own whisky, The Sassenach.

Heughan said: “The Caledonian Sleeper is such an iconic coaster, so to see the show brought to life in this way is both exciting and surreal.

“There is something uniquely special about traveling by train in Scotland.

“It captures the romance, adventure and beauty synonymous with the show and is a fitting way to celebrate stranger’s Connection with Scotland.

“Celebrating the culture, craftsmanship and storytelling of Scotland continues to be deeply personal to me, through initiatives such as Sassenach Spirits and the development of Galloway Distillery.

“Collaborating on an Outlander-inspired menu featuring The Sassenach on board was a meaningful way to expand the world of Outlander beyond the screen and into the journey itself.”

The launch comes ahead of World Foreigners’ Day on June 1 and coincides with the series’ finale this month.

Foreign It is said to have played an important role in the revival of cinema tourism in Scotland.
