Paint unit gutted in Vazhakulam

A private paint factory was destroyed in a massive fire at Chembarakky near Vazhakulam, Kunnathunad on Friday. The manufacturing unit was operating from the Industrial Development Zone at Keenpadi in South Vazhakulam. No one was injured in the accident. The building and raw materials were completely destroyed. The fire broke out around 19.30

Rescue units from Perumbavoor, Pattimattom, Aluva, Angamaly and Eloor fire stations extinguished the fire in an operation that lasted about three hours, an official from Perumbavoor station said. It was reported that the flammable materials and the lack of adequate fire-fighting measures made the operation difficult.

The fire broke out in the evening when all employees left the building. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
