A teenager has been charged with murder after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in London.

Brayan David Saldarriaga, from Haringey, died after being found with stab wounds in Hackney on Monday.

The 16-year-old defendant, who cannot be named due to his age, was also charged with possession of a bladed article on Friday. He will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

Police were called to Towpath Walk in Hackney at 7.17pm on Monday to reports of a large gathering, disorder and people carrying machetes.

He continued: “We understand the impact of this incident on the local community. If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to speak to one of our officers who have been patrolling the area this week.

“We know there were a significant number of people who recorded the large gathering and incident on their mobile phones.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened or has footage of the incident to contact the police as your information could be vital.”
