Woke MoD contracts say arms firms bidding on multi-million-pound cyber defence deals must commit to fight climate change and ‘tackle eco-inequality’

Defense firms must agree to meet conditions such as ‘tackling climate change’ to get multi-million pound deals from the Ministry of Defence, the Mail on Sunday newspaper has revealed.

In the latest outbreak in Whitehall, the Ministry of Defense is requiring companies seeking cyber defense contracts to ‘tackle eco-inequality’ as part of the deals.

The contracts are governed by ‘key performance indicators’ set by the ministry’s ‘social value model’, which were quietly published on Christmas Day.

Priorities include ‘well-being’ and ‘economic equality’ and if suppliers do not meet these criteria they have their contracts torn up, ‘named and shamed’ or even disqualified from future business.

On Saturday evening, Conservative Cabinet spokesman Alex Burghart said: ‘Billions of pounds worth of public contracts across Whitehall have been quietly hijacked by a vigilante agenda.

‘As our enemies rearm, Labor has made ‘tackling ecological inequality’ a key performance indicator for defense contracts.

‘This is completely frivolous and at this rate we will have Net Zero defences.’

The Mandarins claim the new priorities enable public money to ‘deliver wider social and economic benefits’.

But it’s not just defense contracts where these KPIs raise doubts. Politically correct rules account for 10 per cent of ministers’ decisions about which suppliers to use.

Agribusinesses must employ ’50 per cent female or non-binary staff’ and training providers must have a ‘zero gender-pay gap’.

Meanwhile, subcontractors working in export financing must show ’33 percent multicultural representation’ in their advertising; This compares to the national average of less than 20 percent.

In fact, the Ministry of Internal Affairs demands that asylum seekers provide ‘customer satisfaction with cultural sensitivities’.

Fred de Fossard, of the Welfare Institute and author of Woke Capitalism in Britain, said: ‘Government procurement is increasingly being used not to buy competent services but to carry out social engineering behavior on issues ranging from gender balance to climate ideology.’

But a Ministry of Defense spokesman said: ‘We are applying the social value model to make it more relevant to UK defence, ensuring contracts appropriately incentivize suppliers and help drive growth.’
