Why Did Gasoline and Diesel Prices Increase?
The latest revision marked the fourth increase in fuel prices in less than two weeks. Petrol and diesel prices have been increased by around Rs 7.50 per liter since May 15.
The increase follows a rise in global crude oil prices due to disruptions in energy supplies from West Asia. Since India is largely dependent on crude oil imports from Gulf countries, domestic fuel prices become sensitive to international market movements.
