BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan on Sunday, May 31, 2026, criticized the Tamil Nadu government for various incidents reported in various parts of the state and also criticized it for not maintaining the law and order situation. The official argued that merely transferring officials without taking concrete steps to ensure the safety of women and law and order serves no purpose.
Ms Srinivasan cited an incident in which a young woman was killed after being driven over by a car, as well as a case of vandalism under the influence of marijuana and alcohol in Thoothukudi district. He claimed that the widespread use of alcohol and other psychotropic substances made the State concerned about the loss of human life.
The previous DMK government failed to control the movement of psychotropic substances and many youths became addicted, Ms. Srinivasan said, adding that this trend continued during the TVK-led government as well. He said every other day’s murder and other crime reports in the state only indicate the law and order situation.
