Moment thugs on bikes break into vintage store before stealing £6,200 of designer clothes
The shameless moment two thugs on bikes broke into a vintage store and stole more than £6,000 of designer clothes has been caught on camera.
Footage taken on Thursday shows the thieves, one masked and the other brazenly unmasked, arriving at the Bread and Butter Collections in Shoreditch at 4.30am and breaking open the door.
Once inside, the men emptied designer clothing racks and display cases before exiting the store to grab more plastic bags and come back for more.
The crooks returned 20 minutes later with green plastic bin bags (they left the first packet) and proceeded to fill them with £6,200 worth of clothes and accessories.
In two visits to the store, the thieves managed to steal five designer bags, five handmade rings, two retro football jerseys, 10 caps and 15 vintage leather jackets.
During the early morning raid on May 28, CCTV audio recorded one bandit saying: ‘Let’s close the door, let’s go get some more bags.’
The unmasked robber begged his accomplice to leave as soon as possible, but was told to ‘shut your mouth’.
Ben Whittle, owner of Bread and Butter Collections, said the theft left him ‘gutted and violated’.

The thieves decided to leave the store and return with more bags to continue stealing from the store.
‘They came around 4.30 am and broke in the door, and eventually the door exploded,’ he said.
‘They took all of our jackets, which are our main seller, but the biggest one was our designer bags, they broke our display window and took them. ‘It wasn’t a small amount of money.’
The thief, dressed all in black and wearing a balaclava, broke into a glass display case filled with designer bags, while his accomplice stole leather biker jackets.
The thieves filled the green bags and attached the jackets to the handlebars of their bicycles, closed the door of the shop and left.
Mr Whittle was told his shop had been burgled by his cleaner, who came and called him later in the morning.
He said he was ‘in disbelief trying to understand what had happened’ as he watched CCTV footage of the burglary.
The morning raid comes at a painful time for the vintage store owner, as Bread and Butter Collections will launch its own football kit on June 13 and open a brand new store four days later.
Ahead of the opening of the Bread and Butter Collections Arch in two weeks, Mr Whittle said: ‘We need every penny we can get.
‘Running a small business is not easy financially, given all the other pressures; It’s hard.’

Thieves emptied the entire clothes hanger during a raid on a vintage clothing store in the early hours of the morning.
It was a tiny glimmer of hope that the scammers left Arsenal jerseys behind; Some of these jerseys were sold the weekend the team held its Premier League champions bus parade.
Because the bandits had thrown the door wide open during the break-in, Mr. Whittle reinforced the doors with additional locks.
‘They must have shouldered this quite hard. “We have a lot more locks now, that’s for sure,” he said.
Despite being robbed at a critical time for business, support for Bread and Butter Collections has never been stronger.
‘We have a good community, and the theft has strengthened that. I feel a little violated, but we’re doing okay.’
Bread and Butter Collections was founded during the Covid-19 pandemic and has now grown into a vintage lifestyle and events brand based in North London.
The business operates from a three-storey building in Shoreditch. There is a vintage store on the ground floor, an event space on the first floor, and a music studio on the top floor.
A Met spokesman said: ‘We are aware of a video circulating online showing a theft at a shop in Rivington Street, Shoreditch, on Thursday 28 May.
‘The footage shows two suspects entering the building and stealing many designer bags and leather jackets.
‘Officers are reviewing CCTV and inquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this stage.
‘Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 1489/28MAY or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’
