Arsenal title parade: Gunners’ men celebrate Premier League success with bus parade

Arsenal became champions of England for the 14th time, seven points ahead of Manchester City; however, this was the first time since 2003–04 that Arsene Wenger’s ‘Invincibles’ team won the Premier League without losing a match.

The parade took place on Sunday, a day after Arsenal narrowly missed the opportunity to create club history by losing 4-3 on penalties to Paris St-Germain in the Champions League final.

After extra time ended 1-1, PSG retained the European title as Eberechi Eze and Gabriel missed penalties in the penalty shoot-out and Arsenal failed to win their first Champions League title.

On Sunday, before the parade, Gabriel wrote on Instagram: “It hurts, but I’m so proud of this team and everything we’ve accomplished together this season.

“Thank you to our incredible fans for your support every step of the way. You deserve to celebrate this journey with us and enjoy the parade today.”

While the players were devastated by the defeat they suffered in the final in Budapest, Hungary on Saturday, this did not overshadow Sunday’s celebrations.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, 19, who came from the Gunners academy, spoke to Sky Sports News before boarding the bus.

He said of the Champions League defeat: “It’s disappointing because you know when you get so close to a dream, a goal and you feel a little bit inadequate, as Mikel said, it adds fuel to the fire, so we’ll use that for ourselves.”

However, Lewis-Skelly felt this Premier League victory could be the start of a period of success for Arsenal.

“I feel like this is the beginning of a new era and we are ready to go out and achieve our dreams,” he added.

“This means everything to sharing this moment with our people. It’s going to be emotional. The last few weeks have been incredible.”

When asked for a message to fans, he replied: “Thank you and we’re not done yet.”
