Princess Charlene coordinates with 11-year-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella in honour of Monaco’s Mother’s Day

Princess Charlene of Monaco celebrated the country’s Mother’s Day by posting a rare photo of herself with her 11-year-old royal twins.

A previously unseen photo of Charlene, 48, with her arms around Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, was shared on the royal family’s official Instagram page to commemorate the annual celebration, which falls on the last Sunday in May.

Captioned ‘Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers’, the photo offered a rare insight into the lives of two young royals who, despite being members of the Monegasque royal family, have largely remained out of the limelight.

Coordinating for the special occasion, Charlene wore an off-white outfit overallsGabriella showed off a bright white dress, while Jacques opted for a white crew neck.

Images from the same photoshoot were previously released in honor of the royal twins’ 11th birthday on December 10; There were adorable portraits of teenagers staring at the salivating image of their former Olympian mother.

Although Gabriella is slightly older and was born only minutes before her brother, Jacques is the first in line to the throne due to male preference.

In recent months, Jacques and Gabriella have made more public appearances and were present during Pope Leo XIV’s historic visit to Monaco in March.

Gabriella, who bears a striking resemblance to her mother, was joined by Jacques and Prince Albert at the event, where Pope Leo made his first visit to the European country since his election in May.

Both Charlene and Gabriella wore white in keeping with so-called ‘white privilege’; this was a rare exception to the historic dress code that only allowed queens and princesses in Catholic countries to wear white to their meetings with the Pope.

Each of them is one of the rare seven women in the world who have the ability to wear white when meeting the Pope.

The special tradition, called le privilége du blanc in French or il privilegio del bianco in Italian, extends only to designated Catholic queens and princesses, and is reserved for important events such as special audiences, canonizations, beatifications, and special masses.

Normal protocol for papal audiences requires women to wear a long black dress with a high collar, long sleeves, and a black mantilla.

During the trip, 48-year-old Charlene wore a small brooch with Monaco and Vatican flags, as well as a lace-detailed midi dress and a short veil that she draped over her head in accordance with the necessary protocol.

While her mother preferred white heels, 11-year-old Gabriella wore white ballerinas, a long coat and the same brooch as her mother.

The young royals were all smiles when they were joined by their parents, Prince Albert of Monaco and Princess Charlene, at the momentous ceremony.

In 2019, Princess Charlene gave a rare insight into family life with her two younger twins, telling how her ‘brilliant’ daughter Gabriella jumped out of bed to go to school on a Saturday and was disappointed when it closed.

They said they felt ‘blessed’ to have two children who filled them with ‘love and happiness’ and who were also ‘good-natured and kind’.

They also take time to remember those less fortunate in their prayers each night, they told French magazine Point de Vue, according to People.

‘They know what they want, they speak very well and understand many things. It’s hard to believe there are already four of them,’ the former Olympic swimmer explained.

Charlene continued to give insight into her home life with her family, and their bedtime traditions will melt hearts.

He explained: ‘We are thinking of children who do not have parents and cannot receive gifts. Pray that they find some solace.’

Charlene said the children loved studying so much that they wanted the school to be open on weekends too.

She added that her husband Prince Albert’s “happiest moment” was when he spent time with his twins.
