Cash-strapped Brits were able to save hundreds of pounds on groceries this summer after Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse announced a major money-saving change in stores and online.
The supermarket giant has launched a ‘Frozen Promise’ full of discounts, deals and money-saving promises after a new survey found more than two-thirds (69%) of Brits said they were worried about rising food prices; Four in 10 people (40%) admitted to skipping meals to save money on groceries.
Frozen Pledge has seen more than 200 frozen products discounted or added to deals as part of one of Iceland’s most significant customer savings initiatives to date.
Customers will be able to grab offers including a £1 food locker, £2 ice cream deal, £3 on chips and veg and £1 savory pastries; At the same time, branded favorites will receive huge discounts, including £2 for £5 on McCain products and £8 for £10 on Best Brands Ever.
Iceland has also confirmed that its hugely popular 10 for £10 offer will now be extended throughout June and July, with more products and seasonal ranges added as part of the supermarket’s biggest frozen food shakeup in recent years.
Island Foods chief executive Richard Walker said: “Doing the right thing for customers has never been more important and this Frozen Commitment is a huge commitment to both new and existing customers. “This is one of our biggest deal refreshes ever and now includes hundreds of our frozen products in our stores.
“We know people from all walks of life continue to feel the pressure of rising costs, so we want to help people save money right when they need it most.”
The offers, available at all Icelandic and The Food Warehouse stores nationwide, come after Ireland Foods research revealed that almost three-quarters (74%) of Brits want supermarkets to step in and help with the current cost of living crisis.
New deals and offers should help Brits who say they are shopping for deals to make their money go further; 49% admit they plan their meals based on what’s on offer rather than what they actually want.
