President Donald Trump told ABC News he thinks he will make a deal with Iran to extend the ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz “next week.”
“He looks good, he looks good,” he told ABC News’ Washington chief Jonathan Karl in a telephone interview Monday.
“There was a little disruption today, but as you probably noticed already, I turned it around very quickly,” Trump said.
The problem, according to the president, was that the Iranians were disturbed by Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
“So I talked to Hezbollah, said there would be no shooting, and I also talked to Bibi. [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu]“They said no shooting and they both stopped shooting at each other,” Trump said.

Trump said a peace deal with Iran would be “even better than a military victory.”
“This is not a simple thing,” he said. “You’re talking about a really big country, them, a really big country making a deal. It’s really tremendous hostility.”
He continued: “So it’s not easy for them. Actually, it’s not easy for us either. But we get what we have to get.”
Regarding when the memorandum of understanding regarding the reopening of the Strait will be completed and accepted, Trump said, “I think you are talking about next week.”
He said he hasn’t accepted it yet because “I still need to get a few more points.”

Trump says talks with Iran ‘continue at a rapid pace’
President Donald Trump said in his social media post that talks with Iran are continuing “at a rapid pace.”
This comes after Iran announced earlier in the day that communications with the US had been halted due to Israel’s aggression in Lebanon. Iran did not comment or confirm whether talks were continuing.

Trump said he spoke with Netanyahu and Hezbollah and they agreed not to ‘attack’ each other
President Donald Trump said in a new social media post that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claimed that Israel will not send troops to Beirut or “attack” Lebanon.
“No troops will be going to Beirut, and any troops that go have already been turned away,” Trump wrote.
This came after Netanyahu called for the resumption of strikes in south Beirut.

Trump also said that he had a phone call with Hezbollah and that the terrorist organization agreed to stop attacks on Israeli territory.

President Donald Trump reacted Monday morning to reports that Iran had stopped communicating with the United States for peace deal negotiations, saying in a phone call that Iran had not informed the United States.

Iran warns of crossing red lines in Lebanon, Gaza could trigger ‘direct war’
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Iran “considers crossing the red lines in Lebanon and Gaza directly tantamount to war and imposing costs on its own national security and the Islamic resistance.”
In response, the IRGC said Iran was “determined to conduct defensive operations by taking disruptive actions, opening new fronts, and additionally preserving the Strait of Hormuz equation.”

Israeli army orders evacuation of Beirut’s southern suburbs
The Israeli army warned residents in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon, to flee their homes due to possible attacks.
The Israeli military said it would target sites in the Dahiyeh suburb if Hezbollah “continues to fire rockets at Israeli cities and towns.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously instructed the army to hit “terrorist targets” in Dahiyeh.

Iran withdrew from negotiations, closed the Strait: Tasnim
Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim reported that Iran stopped “dialogue and exchange of messages through mediation” due to Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.

US foiled Iran’s attack on Kuwait
CENTCOM announced that two Iranian missiles targeting US soldiers in Kuwait were intercepted on Sunday night.
“These missiles were destroyed immediately and no American personnel were harmed,” CENTCOM said.
