Telangana Govt Approves Ticket Hike for ‘Peddi’

The Telangana government has officially approved the ticket price hike for Ram Charan’s much-awaited film Peddi, giving the film a major boost ahead of its grand release. The decision comes as welcome news for fans, exhibitors and distributors who have been eagerly awaiting final government approval regarding revised ticket prices and special premiere screenings.

According to the government order, Peddi will be allowed to hold a special premiere show at 8pm on June 3, a day before its worldwide release. The ticket price for these premieres has been fixed at ₹600 plus GST. Considering the intense interest surrounding the project and the strong demand for premiere tickets, the approval is expected to significantly benefit the film’s opening day collections.

Advance bookings have begun in the Nizam area and the response has reportedly been phenomenal. Many theaters experienced brisk ticket sales, reflecting the excitement among Ram Charan fans and moviegoers. Industry circles expect the film to have one of the biggest openings of the year in Telugu cinema.

The Telangana government also allowed an increase in ticket prices for a period of ten days from June 4 to June 13. Under the revised pricing structure, single-screen cinemas can increase ticket prices by ₹100, while multiplexes have been allowed an increase of ₹125 per ticket. As a result, ticket prices in many movie theaters are expected to be around INR 275 for single screens and around INR 420 for multiple screens.

Apart from the ticket hike, the government has also approved the screening of Peddi five times a day in cinemas. This additional showing allowance is expected to maximize occupancy levels and help the film capitalize on strong initial demand in its critical first week. The extra showings are likely to play a significant role in boosting overall box office performance, especially on the opening weekend.

Interestingly, the film’s team reportedly demanded an increase of ₹150 for multiple tickets. However, after reviewing the proposal, the Telangana government approved a slightly lower increase of ₹125. Despite the reduced amount, exhibitors and distributors are said to be happy with the decision, as the film still provides significant revenue potential during the busy business period.

A notable aspect of the government scheme is the welfare component. GO states that 20 percent of the additional revenue generated through ticket price increase should be donated to the Telugu Film Industry Employees Welfare Association. The movement aims to support film workers, technicians and other industry personnel whose contributions often remain behind the scenes. Industry observers welcomed this provision and described it as a positive step towards strengthening welfare initiatives within the film fraternity.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh has already given similar permissions for increases in ticket prices and premiere screenings, ensuring that the film has favorable release conditions in both the Telugu states. With government approvals being received and pre-bookings gaining momentum, movie theaters are preparing for celebration screenings and crowded halls.
