Caitlin Clark ties her own WNBA record as Fever move past drama with win over Angel Reese, Dream

It looks like the fire in Indiana has been put out.
Caitlin Clark turned in another historic performance Thursday night, helping the Indiana Fever to an 83-71 victory over Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream, while tying the WNBA record she already holds.
With 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists, Clark became the fastest player in league history to score more than 150 points and more than 50 assists in a season.

The milestone comes just days after Clark and Fever head coach Stephanie White were thrust into the WNBA spotlight following a heated argument during Indiana’s loss to the Portland Fire.
White faced heavy backlash for outing Clark in a game in which the star guard was largely ineffective, and the idea of benching the face of the league sparked so much backlash that some fans even started calling for the coach’s job.
Before appearing in court Thursday, Clark tried to quiet the noise.

“Personally, I’m in a very good place. I don’t really read that stuff. I know everybody can have an opinion and people can fill me in. But I don’t sit on Twitter or social media and read that stuff,” Clark said.

Still, the noise from that bad loss in Portland loomed large as the Fever took the stage to face longtime nemesis Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
That tension briefly resurfaced after fans on social media were frustrated by White’s failure to challenge the questionable foul call on Clark.
But at the most crucial moment, Clark sent a clear message.

As the Fever mounted a 16-3 run to take a 58-46 lead, Clark rushed over to White and delivered a powerful blow to his chest; This makes it clear to everyone that all seems well between player and coach.
This surge in the second half helped Indiana earn an 83-71 victory over Atlanta. Clark benefited from outstanding performances from teammates Kelsey Mitchell (25 points) and Aliyah Boston (19 points).
Angel Reese, on the other hand, shot a measly 4-of-9 from the field but still managed to post a double-double, recording 11 points and 10 rebounds. With the win, Clark improved her WNBA career record against Reese to 5-1.
The moment with Clark during a historic comeback performance was as good a result as Stephanie White could have hoped for to silence the critics. But the pressure did not completely evaporate.
