Meghan Markle appears to have stopped launching attacks on the Royal Family, having previously discussed her experiences with the Firm through interviews and in the Sussexes’ 2022 Netflix series. Since her return to Instagram, the release of her Netflix show and the launch of her brand As Ever, Meghan has visibly backed away from verbal attacks — now a royal expert is explaining why.

I’m talking to New! Royal author Ingrid Seward Magazine explains why Meghan appears to have stopped her attacks, and the reason is said to be surprising. He shared that this was most likely because he needed to get King Charles “on his side.”

“She’s smart enough to know that having a good relationship with her father-in-law can only help her relationship with her husband if that’s what he wants,” she told the publication.

“He has to get her on his side, of all people. Of course, he also has to deal with Camilla, who will never be rude or unpleasant to him, but knowing the kind of woman she is, he will definitely be very, very careful with Meghan.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been at odds with the Royal Family for many years, with relations souring further since the couple decided to step down as senior royals.

Despite the ruptures in the relationship, Meghan has previously spoken fondly of her father-in-law in the 2022 Netflix series Harry & Meghan.

He said: “Harry’s dad is very attractive. And I said to him, ‘I’ve lost my dad over this.’ So he was really important to me as my father-in-law.”

The comment follows her decision to accept King Charles’ offer to walk his bride down the aisle at their wedding in 2018.

Speaking previously about their relationship, Ms Seward said: “Meghan and Charles’ initial relationship meant a lot to Meghan.

“Charles cared deeply for her, and although he reportedly nicknamed her ‘Tungsten,’ I think he understood that and saw her as quite vulnerable.”
