Three arrested in Chebrolu double murder case

Police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder mystery of woman M. Venkata Lakshmi and her mother G. Anthoboyila, whose bodies were found in a cashew garden on the inter-district borders of Eluru and West Godavari within the limits of Chebrolu police station on May 29.

The accused was identified as Ponamala Sirisha, a relative of the victims; Karri Prasad aka Basu; and Aasu Durga, Eluru district Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore told the media on Saturday.

Sirisha had held a grudge against Venkata Lakshmi and Anthoboyila for allegedly spreading rumors about her character.

She had planned the murders and had taken the help of her lover Prasad and her friend Durga. They allegedly invited the victims to a birthday party held in cashew gardens near Ananthapalli village on May 29.

Eluru Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) D. Sravan Kumar alleged that they offered poison-laced liquor to the victims and later smashed their heads with rocks.

Chebrolu police registered a case and initiated investigation.

Jangareddygudem ASP Susmitha Ramanathan, who was monitoring the investigation, said police also recovered some gold jewelery allegedly stolen from the victims.
