CM Revanth Reddy must account for govt.’s performance: BJP

State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy should explain what his government has achieved in the last two-and-a-half years instead of questioning BJP leaders on their contribution to the development of Telangana.
Speaking to the media at Yadagirigutta in Bhongir district on Tuesday, Mr. Rao alleged that the Congress government had failed to bring in new investments. He said the Center is ready to extend full cooperation for the development of Hyderabad – including expansion of Metro Rail – provided the State fulfills its responsibilities.
For this, he stated that the government should take the lead in preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and facilitating land acquisition and advised the Prime Minister to “change his language and political approach” and refrain from making personal statements against BJP leaders.
Mr. Rao stated that the Prime Minister should prioritize the implementation of the six guarantees promised to the people and clarify the status of the assurances given in the Warangal, Khammam and Hyderabad Declarations. Failure to do so could trigger social unrest in rural areas.
He claimed that there was a growing public perception that Telangana had become an “ATM” for the Congress and there were concerns that public funds were being diverted to the party’s political needs rather than development. Reiterating his earlier allegations, Mr. Rao accused the State government of neglecting the farmers while trying to mislead the public by “hiding the facts”.
The BJP chief said the Center was carrying out large-scale food grain procurement across the country, including Telangana, and termed the State’s allegations against it as baseless. It was the responsibility of the government to forecast crop yields, communicate procurement requirements to the Center and ensure that purchases were made on time. Blaming the Center without fulfilling these duties amounts to a betrayal of the people, he said, demanding an explanation for why procurement had not reached even the projected levels.
