M&S announces £30 million price cuts in 65 countries shopping “basic needs” as part of ongoing efforts to attract more families. The move, confirmed on Wednesday, June 10, will apply to products in the retailer’s Exceptional Value, Drop and Lock and Larger Pack, Better Value ranges.
General manager M&S FoodAlex Freudmann said: “These price reductions on family favorites like salmon, eggs and vegetables are all part of our commitment to helping our customers eat great-tasting food every day, without compromise. This is another step on our transformation journey as we reinvest in growth.”
The street giant said in a statement: price cuts It doesn’t mean that the quality of food is lowered to make it cheaper.
M&S said cheaper price tags were possible thanks to investment in long-term suppliers. Discounts include each of the retailer’s fresh salmon fillets.
Lower priced items include M&S’s exclusive Caledonian Gold salmon; The price is currently down from £5.50 to £4.95.
The price of 10 fresh salmon products has been reduced, including a family pack of four from £10.75 to £9.50.
M&S said the investment brings salmon into line with market prices in the Exceptional Value range compared to rivals.
Other staples with price reductions include the 12% British Lean Beef Mince, now £4.50, and the Free Range Mixed Size Egg 6 Pack, new priced at £1.30.
Store cupboard and freezer family staples such as Tomato Ketchup retail for 95p and 1.5kg of fries retail for £2.50.
M&S Food said the changes form part of its wider strategy to offer customers the best quality food at the best possible price.
Other price reductions apply to Crispy Peanut Butter (£1.40), Smooth Peanut Butter (£1.40), Crinkle Cut Chips (£2.00), Garlic Baguette (£1.00) and Quiche Lorraine 170g (£2.50).
More products will be added to the range, which now offers more than 140 daily “family favourites”, according to M&S.
