History-sheeter shot in leg, arrested after attacking policeman

The 19-year-old history writer was shot in the leg and arrested by Hebbagodi police after he allegedly attacked a police officer with a gun while trying to evade arrest on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Jeeva, is a rowdy man who is facing multiple criminal cases including robbery, attempted murder, extortion and assault. He allegedly absconded after being involved in a series of robberies reported in Hebbagodi and Electronics City Police Station limits in recent weeks.
Acting on a tip-off that Jeeva was hiding near Singena Agrahara, a special police team launched a search operation to nab him. It was claimed that the suspect tried to escape when the police teams tried to catch him.
According to police, constable Nagesh chased the suspect and the suspect then allegedly attacked the police officer. It was reported that despite repeated warnings to surrender, the suspect continued his aggressive behavior and tried to escape.
In response, sub-inspector Ayyappa opened fire in self-defence and the accused was shot in the leg. Jeeva collapsed on the spot and was immediately taken to safety by the police team.
Both the accused and constable Nagesh were transported to a nearby hospital. It is stated that their condition is stable.
Police sources said Jeeva is a resident of Tirupalya. A case has been registered at Hebbagodi Police Station and further investigation is on.
