Huge London warehouse fire forces 70 residents to be evacuated as blaze rages

While people living near the fire that broke out in a warehouse in London were evacuated, firefighters tried to control the fire.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said around 70 people were evacuated as a precaution while working at the scene in Brent on Thursday night.
In a statement made by LFB, it was stated that the fire, which destroyed most of the roof and most of the two-storey multi-purpose warehouse in a business park on Oxgate Lane, was brought under control before 6 am on Friday.
People living nearby were advised to keep doors and windows closed.
The LFB said around 150 firefighters with 25 engines arrived at the scene from Hendon, Willesden, West Hampstead and surrounding fire stations following more than 70 calls reporting the fire.

Firefighters were using four spiral staircases and a high-volume pump to fight the fire.
Edgware Road was closed between the junctions with Dollis Hill and Staples Corner and Oxgate Lane was closed to traffic.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
A fire that broke out at a recycling center in south London on Monday was brought under control by around 100 firefighters.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said fifteen fire engines attended the scene in Landmann Way, Bermondsey, after receiving a number of calls at around 5.30pm.
LFB confirmed the fire was brought under control shortly before midnight and the cause was being investigated.
LFB said the firefight continued throughout the night as crews tried to completely extinguish the fire.
One man was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance service.

Images near the scene showed thick clouds of smoke rising over surrounding buildings and the LFB appealed to people living nearby to keep windows and doors closed.
Two of LFB’s 32-foot spiral staircases were deployed to the scene to help fight the fire from above.
Station commander Wayne Bloomfield, who arrived at the scene, said: “The fire destroyed a large amount of rubbish and the roof of a storage unit.
“During the fire, a minibus and a car were destroyed. One person was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.
“Due to the heavy smoke in the area, residents have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
“Loose embers have also been reported, which is normal during large fires. Residents are advised to pour water on themselves if they are concerned about loose embers on or near their property, but to call 999 immediately if they catch anything burning.”
