Dissident TMC Faction to Seek ‘Real TMC’ Status from LS Speaker
New Delhi: Rebel MP Jagadish Chandra Barma Basunia said on Friday that opposition TMC MPs will meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday and claimed that 19 LS members are currently supporting the group. Cooch Behar MP Basunia, who is among the MPs willing to support the NDA in the Lok Sabha, told PTI Videos that the group will meet the Speaker on Monday.
“We will go to the Speaker on Monday and have made a claim to form the real TMC voting group. We will ask the Speaker to accept our claim,” Basunia said. he said.
Sources said the timing of the meeting has not been finalized yet.
When asked about Trinamool Congress senior leader Kalyan Banerjee’s remarks on Abhishek Banerjee, Basunia said, “He is saying the right thing. We support Kalyan ji’s statement.”
The TMC was in a crisis after the party suffered defeat in the West Bengal assembly elections and a large section of legislators rebelled. The events later spread to the Parliament.
