2026 NBA Finals: New York Knicks at San Antonio Spurs Game 5 best bets for side, total and player props

Can the San Antonio Spurs bounce back from the largest blowout in NBA Finals history and keep their season alive by beating the New York Knicks in Game 5 on Saturday? According to San Antonio phenom Victor Wembanyama: “Everybody thinks – everybody knows – that we’re going to do this.”

Mr. Wembanyama, Spurs will become the 16th team in NBA history to win the series with a score of 3-1. New York is on the verge of winning its first NBA championship in 53 years, thanks to a full team effort.

The hero of Game 4 was Knicks forward OG Anunoby. the moment at both ends of the game. First, Anunoby blocked Spurs PG De’Aaron Fox at the basket with 11 seconds left. OG then made the game-winning tip on Jalen Brunson’s missed shot in the final seconds.

Even though NYK holds a solid 3-1 lead in the series and is a -500 favorite to win the title, they “can’t play with their food.” These teams share the “four factors” in the finals, with New York trailing San Antonio by just two points per game.

Since this may be the last game of the NBA season, I’m upping the gamble (responsibly, of course). With that in mind, here are my top three bets for Knicks-Spurs in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals, starting Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

New York Knicks +5.5 (-112 at DraftKings)

The Spurs have a double-digit lead in every game in the 2026 NBA Finals. So obviously San Antonio can blow out New York on Saturday, especially since this is a must-win game for the Spurs.

But we all know they don’t have the ball 2+ times better than the Knicks. white walkers and apparently cannot be killed. So for NYK the “back door” is always open. I’m almost confident San Antonio will get 10 points.

Will Spurs survive to fight another day? We will see. In my 2026 NBA Finals preview, I bet New York will win the title (+170) and cover a 1.5 series spread (+270). So I always thought the Knicks were the better team.

However, since I already have those two tickets, I’m just taking points from NYK and hoping it’s “Knicks at 5.” However, I have a much stronger opinion of the total.

OVER 214.5 (-126 in Kalshi)

God have mercy on your soul if you bet on the Over in the 4th match. 125 points were scored in the first half and the under 216.5 cashed in with the Knicks clinching a classic 107-106 victory.

It’s almost impossible for Under to make money and it’s an epic hit for Over punters. San Antonio scored just 30 points in the second half. It happens all the time but Spurs were up 29 points, took their foot off the gas and before you knew it they were stifled.

Answers should do Playing fast on Saturday to wake them up after their collapse in Game 4. My logic is that if you play fast, you have less time to think and just react. So it’s a game these guys have mastered all their lives. Get out there and play.

Also, San Antonio has a younger and more athletic team. should do you will be out during the transition. I assume Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson will tell his team, “Let’s go out there and punch them in the mouth.”

Then, if San Antonio is on the rise again, Johnson will tell his men to keep their foot on the gas. Meanwhile, the Knicks are happy to play fast because they are a better shooting team and should do collect more balls and get more points.

Moreover, they are outscoring the Spurs by four fast break points per game, and their transition 3-point shot is the best shot in basketball, next to the dunk, of course. It might be odd to say that San Antonio needs to step up the tempo, considering things get busy in the transition period.

But New York’s offense is better in the half court, so the Spurs need to run. Philosophically, I believe that all basketball teams should be able to force live rebounds and turnovers before their opponents can set up a defense.

Meanwhile, San Antonio is home and role players generally shoot better in their home gyms. Even Wembanyama shoots better at home and is shooting a lot in these finals.

Now, I kept italicizing the word “should” because you can’t coach your bets and each play takes on a life of its own. But it feels like the Game 5 total should have been at least 219, and everything I wrote is because of that.

Player Attribute: Spurs forward Julian Champagnie over 9.5 points (+101 on DraftKings)

Citing “role players shooting better at home,” Champagnie scored 10 or more points in six of his 11 home games in these playoffs. His true shooting percentage, which consists of 2-point, 3-point and free throws, increased from 58.6% away from home to 63.5% at home during the regular season.

Champagnie’s defense, effort and outside shooting keep him on the floor, and San Antonio’s rotation went just seven deep on Wednesday. Spurs backup Luke Kornet is questionable for Saturday with an “illness” and forward and reigning NBA sixth man of the year Keldon Johnson has missed the finals.

Finally, the Knicks are keeping their weakest defender, Brunson, in Champagnie. I’m not saying San Antonio will run the offense through him, but Champagnie should have some open-mindedness because New York’s defense is focused on: WembyFox, forward Stephon Castle and backup PG Dylan Harper.
