Boy, 2, suffers serious injuries after car hits nursery school playground

A two-year-old child was seriously injured when a car crashed into a kindergarten playground, police said.

A 63-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a car crashed through a fence and into a school playground on Vale Road in the Whitby area of ​​Ellesmere Port at around 9.54am on Monday, Cheshire Constabulary said.

Police and the North West Ambulance Service attended and the child was taken to hospital with “serious injuries”.

Next of kin have been notified, police said.

Two other children were slightly injured in the accident.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Officers are currently at the scene and carrying out a number of inquiries to establish the full circumstances of what is believed to be an isolated incident.”
