Bonnie Tyler now out of coma but remains in intensive care in Portugal | Music

Welsh pop star Bonnie Tyler is no longer in a coma but remains in a “very bad” condition in intensive care at a hospital near her home in Faro, Portugal.

The 75-year-old singer had emergency bowel surgery in May and was placed in a coma to help her recovery.

In the statement on the official website, it was stated that his condition was improving and doctors were confident that he would recover, but it was a slow process.

The statement said all remaining shows this summer have been cancelled, but it is hoped some autumn dates can go ahead.

The update on his recovery comes after the singer’s family expressed dismay at “horrible and unfounded rumors” circulating about his health.

“Bonnie is no longer in a coma, but her condition is very bad and she is in intensive care in a hospital in Portugal. Although her condition is improving, it is a slow process,” the statement said.

“His doctors are confident he will make a good recovery, but it will take time.

“Therefore, we are sorry to announce to everyone that we will be canceling all our remaining shows this summer or postponing them to next year if possible.

“This will impact all current shows through the end of August. At this time we are still hopeful that our fall shows will go ahead.”

The spokesman apologized for the “disappointment this will cause” and hoped fans would “understand and bear with us in these difficult circumstances.”

They added: “We’d like to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support that Bonnie has received from all over the world, and we would like to say that she is aware and grateful for your good wishes.”
