‘Top Gear’ host Jeremy Clarkson reveals aggressive cancer diagnosis

TV host Jeremy Clarkson revealed that he is battling cancer in a recent episode of his hit show “Clarkson’s Farm.”
In the final two episodes of the fifth season of the Prime Video docuseries, the 66-year-old British television star shared that he had been diagnosed with cancer while speaking to his co-stars Charlie Ireland and Kaleb Cooper. to BBC And Guard.
“I had a doctor’s check-up in May, do you remember?” Clarkson said, according to the Guardian. “I disappeared last week and had a biopsy, it’s cancer and it’s an aggressive disease but it’s really early.”

The “Top Gear” star said he’s known about his diagnosis “since May.” The episodes aired on Wednesday were filmed last year, according to the Guardian.

“I promise I’ll be okay,” Clarkson told Ireland and Cooper.
Based on UK release Independent, Clarkson said he will undergo surgery in the coming weeks and “will be out of action for a bit.”

“If I hadn’t gotten myself checked and caught the problem early, this could have been my last harvest,” Clarkson said, according to the Guardian. “Because they caught it early, there is every hope that I will be harvesting this farm for many years to come.”

In the next episode, Clarkson told Cooper that he had undergone a procedure in which part of his prostate was removed.
“10 percent of the prostate is dead, 10 percent is where the cancer is located,” he said. Sky News.
In a later scene, Clarkson tells co-star Gerald Cooper that she “took charge of the operation.”

In the last scene of the fifth season finale, Clarkson was seen in a hospital.
“We started season five with me in a hospital bed and here we are at the end of season five and I’m in a hospital bed again,” he said, according to the BBC.

“Let’s just say some of the treatment went a little bit wrong, so I’ll be here for a while,” Clarkson continued. “Nothing by mouth, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
“But if these are successful, see you in season six, if not, I won’t do it,” he concluded. “Everybody take care of yourself.”
According to the Independent, the opening episodes of season five focused on Clarkson’s heart health scare in October 2024 and her recovery from emergency surgery.

On Tuesday, Clarkson shared an Instagram video in which she told fans she had “gloomy news” to share about new episodes of “Clarkson’s Farm.”
“Normally we try to keep the show idyllic, charming and lighthearted, but the last two episodes, which air at midnight tonight… are actually none of those things,” Clarkson said.
“It’s a tough watch,” he added with a sigh. “These are really hard.”

in the 2025 column Sunday Times, Clarkson shared that he gets a health screening every few years and gets regular prostate exams. The “Grand Tour” host also urged men not to avoid prostate exams due to embarrassment.
“I’ve had too many friends who have had prostate cancer and all it takes to catch it early is to squint a little for a minute or two,” he wrote. “Everything goes well and the doctor goes home happy. What’s not to like?”

“Apparently one of the arteries supplying my heart with nourishing blood was completely blocked and the second of the three was heading that way,” he wrote.

Clarkson recalled thinking about how close she had come to having a heart attack after the procedure.
“I went home the next morning and here I am two hours later, writing this and thinking, ‘Crikey, that was a close call,'” Clarkson wrote.
