Autopsy report in Vennela murder case on March 25 indicated foul play, FIR only on June 4

A copy of the autopsy report of 6-year-old girl Vennela, dated March 25, 2026 Hindu reached, indicates foil play. However, the FIR was registered only on June 4.

Kadugodi police registered only an Unnatural Death Registration (UDR) report on March 25, the day the girl was found dead.

On the same day, the autopsy report concluded the cause of death as follows: “Death is due to the combined effect of airway obstruction and asphyxia resulting from blunt force trauma to the abdomen”. The autopsy report also lists seven antemortem wounds, all of which occurred before death; all in the child’s face area, nose area, under the chin and in the left upper jaw area.

Senior police officials said the autopsy report was clear. An official said that the expressions “asphyxia due to obstruction of the respiratory tract” and “blunt force trauma to the abdomen” clearly meant murder and pointed to murder.

However, the police’s failure to turn the UDR report into a murder case raised questions. This situation came under investigation and three police personnel were suspended from duty for alleged negligence of duty.

The complainant in the case, Praveen, the deceased girl’s father, said that he had separated from his wife and was living with the girl’s mother. He said his brother-in-law informed him of the girl’s death on the morning of March 25. His wife Priyanka said that the girl claimed that she ate Biriyani from outside, went to sleep and was found dead on March 25. He also claimed that the girl slept in an air-conditioned car the previous evening and was found dead the next morning.

He also said in his complaint that he sent the autopsy report to a doctor, which showed signs of foul play. However, the police registered an FIR for the murder only on June 4.
