Ram Temple donation row: Limited CCTV footage poses hurdle to SIT probing Ram temple donation ‘theft’

Ayodhya: Limited duration footage from CCTV cameras installed at Ram Temple has thrown a wrench into the ongoing SIT investigation into the alleged misappropriation of endowment funds.

According to sources, images taken from these cameras are only available for 45 days and are automatically deleted thereafter.

The three-member SIT, constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government on June 13 on the request of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, is investigating allegations of theft of temple donations.

Sources said investigators found signs of possible tampering with the images and were trying to recover deleted or altered data.

“The SIT will try to retrieve as much old footage as possible through forensic analysis,” said a source.
Officials said any manipulation carried out in the last 45 days could still leave technical traces and be detected by forensic examination. Sources said investigators found many contradictions in the statements of temple workers.
