Prince William’s ‘frosty’ exchange with King over Prince Harry return | Royal | News

Prince William allegedly had a “cold argument” with his father, the King, during last weekend’s Trooping the Color festivities over Prince Harry’s bombshell return to England. Speculation is mounting after reports claim the Duke of Sussex will bring his family, including his two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK next month for the first time in four years.
An explosive trip could pave the way for an emotional and long-overdue reunion between the monarch and her estranged American grandchildren. Harry and Meghan have reportedly been offered accommodation at the royal residence, although they have yet to respond. But now new reports claim the King’s olive branch may have soured his relationship with heir Prince William.
mail on sunday He claimed royal insiders said the King’s desire to see Harry had led to tensions with William, who wanted nothing to do with his brother.
The Duke of Sussex is said to be on bad terms with the Prince of Wales following the bombshell claims he made about him in interviews and in his memoir Spare after leaving the Royal Family in 2020.
Sources told the press that “the King’s relationship with William is not in a good place” and that the pair are “at a very low ebb”.
Press claims tensions were clearly evident at last weekend’s Trooping the Colour, when William learned of the Sussexes’ arrival just hours before the main ceremony.
William reportedly said his father made the “wrong decision” in trying to reconcile with Harry.
An insider said: “Queen Camilla, King Charles and the Princess of Wales were outwardly unfriendly to each other that day, and it wasn’t just because of the protesters. Relations were decidedly frosty behind the scenes.”
Another source added: “A lot of what they do is performance-oriented. But there was very little performance on that day.”
However, other sources close to the monarch and heir strongly denied these claims and said the relationship between father and son was “incredibly positive” and “unchanging”.
Harry is believed to have last spoken to William at the late Queen’s funeral in September 2022.
