Meghan urged to copy one senior royal to turn her public image around | Royal | News

Meghan Markle has been asked to copy a senior royal in a bid to turn her public image around. The 44-year-old artist, who previously described himself as the “most trolled person in the world”, has seen his reputation decline with each passing month since he stepped away from royal life in 2020.

Speaking of Queen Camilla, author and journalist Catherine Mayer argued that the Queen’s journey from royal outsider to respected senior royal could be a path Meghan could try and copy.

he said HELLO!A Right Royal Podcast: “Camilla has the exact opposite streak to Meghan. She’s gone from being arguably one of the most hated women in the world to being seen as the other woman in the collapse of Charles and Diana’s marriage, to being firmly at the top of the popularity ratings.”

Discussing the current moment, he added: “He is now seen as one of the stalwarts of the monarchy, as opposed to the greatest threat he has ever faced.”

Mayer, who has written a new book called ‘Divide and Rule: Royal Women and Their Wars’, said Camilla’s rise to public stature was one of the most significant royal image rehabilitations in modern history.

He included Princess Catherine and Duchess Sophie, adding that Camilla was one of the monarchy’s most successful examples of “up and comers” adapting to royal life.

He also praised the Queen’s growing popularity in several areas, including how well she supported the King during his cancer journey.

He said: “Most of the people I spoke to wanted to remain anonymous, but I spoke to Paddy Harverson, who was the communications secretary in the crucial period leading up to their marriage and whose name has been mentioned, and his whole thought was: ‘What if people saw more of him? [Camilla] They’ll love it.”

“And that’s absolutely true, but I think it was necessary to settle into the official role of queen consort for this to work, and she also needed the warmth of other family members to help her grow into that.”

Queen Camilla married the King in 2005 and became stepmother to his sons Princes William and Harry.
