14 Coaching Centres Sealed After Lucknow Blaze, 24 Plus Get Notices

Jaipur: The Jaipur administration on Tuesday launched a crackdown on coaching institutes and libraries over fire safety violations, sealing 14 establishments and issuing notices to over two dozen establishments following the deadly fire at a coaching center in Lucknow that killed 15 people.
Council and police teams carried out inspections across the city to verify fire safety regulations, including the availability of fire suppression equipment, emergency exits and mandatory fire no-objection certificates (NOCs).
Fire Chief Devendra Meena said since June 4, notices regarding fire safety compliance have been issued to around 600 units in the Heritage area, including around 150 coaching institutes and libraries.
Many institutes were found to be operating without adequate security measures, leading to immediate sealing measures, officials said. More than 24 training centers were also notified for not complying with fire safety norms.
According to officials, this trip was undertaken as a precautionary measure, considering the large number of students attending coaching centers in the city, and adhering to safety standards in case of emergency becomes critical.
During the inspections, authorities checked whether fire-fighting systems were in working order, whether equipment had expired and whether emergency exits were accessible. Documents regarding fire NOCs were also requested from the institutions.
More inspections and enforcement are ongoing, officials said.
