UK bakery plunges into liquidation – in business for 12 years | UK | News

A bakery that had been operating in England for 12 years went bankrupt.
Kellys Bakeries Ltd appointed liquidators on June 22, 2026, according to The Gazette.
The company, registered in Norwich, produces bread, fresh pastries and cakes and also supplies its products to retailers.
It is also stated that the company also sells flour confectionery and sugar confectionery through specialist stores.
Jo Watts and Andrew McTear of McTear Williams and Wood Limited have been appointed liquidators by creditors and members.
The business was incorporated on December 2, 2014, according to Companies House records.
The food retailer is among a number of businesses that have recently gone into liquidation amid a turbulent financial environment.
Last month, a much-loved British bakery chain closed all of its stores after running into a deficit of around £779,000, according to newly filed Companies House documents.
Routledges was first established in 1917 and has built a formidable reputation for its wide range of baked goods including pastries, bread, cakes and filled rolls.
At the time of the closure, the bakery released a statement explaining its decision with “incredibly heavy hearts.”
Routledges said: “This wasn’t something we thought we needed to write.
“Routledges has closed permanently after 109 years.”
The company also stated that 2025 is “one of the most challenging years we have ever endured.”
