Unauthorised Websites To Book Slots for Electric Crematorium in Bengaluru North, Complaint Lodged

Bengaluru: While Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) officials have fixed Rs 250 as crematorium fee for booking seats in electric crematoriums under the Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC), unauthorized websites, middlemen and individuals are allegedly collecting excess money from bereaved families to avail services at electric crematoriums.

Collecting details of such ongoing activities, BNCC officials filed a complaint with the Yelahanka Cyber Crime Police, which is under investigation against unauthorized websites and intermediaries. Unauthorized websites booking funerals demanded Rs 5,000 from bereaved families.

Bengaluru North City Corporation operates Chirashantidhama Electric Crematorium Hebbal Kempapura and Muktidhama Electric Crematorium, Medi Agrahara and charges Rs 250 for services at these electric crematoriums, but unidentified persons operating unauthorized websites and some through agents collected more than the stipulated amount fixed by the GBA authorities for booking the crematorium slots.

BNCC officials asked the public not to fall prey to unauthorized websites or approach agents or middlemen to book seats at their crematoriums and appealed to the public to book seats only on the official online platforms of the Greater Bengaluru Authority. They asked the public to bring any fraudulent activity to the notice of relevant authorities and take action against such activities through appropriate channels.
