Couple taken to hospital after being mauled in vicious Arundel dog attack

A married couple were left with bruises, scrapes and a puncture wound after a vicious dog attack on Thursday evening.

The couple were out for a walk with their dog in Arundel on the Gold Coast when a mastiff started chasing them down the street.

The Mastiff attacked the couple who asked for help after the dog clung to them.

Citizens in the area who chased the dog ran to help and notified the emergency service.

The man in his 50s suffered cuts and puncture wounds to his arm, while his wife, in her 40s, suffered injuries to her arm and hands.

Following the attack, the council said council officers removed the animal from the scene and dropped a leaflet into the dog owner’s letterbox.

The couple remained hospitalized Friday.
