Mobile phones seized from Kannur Central Jail again

A mobile phone with a SIM card was seized from an inmate at the Central Prison in Pallikkunnu; This marks his second recovery from prison in as many days.

The phone was seized from Odisha native Utham Patra, who was serving time in a narcotics case.

During the investigation, prison officials found the handset hidden in the fourth block of the prison. Following a complaint made by the prison warden, Kannur Town police launched an investigation into the incident.

The latest seizure comes just days after another cellphone was found in the prison.
