River Irwell search UPDATES: Major operation underway after boy enters water | UK | News

A major search was launched across a section of the River Irwell at a park in Salford this morning after a child experienced difficulties in the water. Emergency services and specialist teams were dispatched to the scene at Clifton Country Park in Salford following the incident on Saturday afternoon. MEN reports.

A Manchester Police spokesman said this morning: “At around 4.49pm on Saturday 27 June 2026, we were called to reports of a child in distress in the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park. Emergency services and specialist search teams are at the scene. The incident is ongoing.”
