Ealing: Driver charged with attempted murder after pedestrians struck by car

A driver who allegedly crashed his car into multiple pedestrians on a busy London road has been charged with attempted murder.

Five people were injured and three were taken to hospital after the incident, which took place on Ealing Broadway in west London at around 14.30 on Saturday.

Counter Terrorism Police (CTP) London carried out initial investigations but it is not being treated as terrorism.

On Sunday evening, the Metropolitan Police said Somali-born Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, of Grange Park, Ealing, had been charged with five counts of attempted murder, dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a breath sample for analysis and criminal damage.

He was arrested and will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

While it was learned that the injuries were not life-threatening, two people who were not hospitalized were treated at the scene.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, paramedics in rapid response cars, a volunteer emergency response team and an incident responder. “We also sent the London Air Ambulance.

“We treated three patients at the scene and took one of them primarily by road to a major trauma center. We took the other two patients to a local hospital.”
