Murder accused in court over Peak District summer solstice death

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after another man died during a summer solstice event in the Peak District.
Derbyshire Police launched a murder investigation after being called to reports of the discovery of a body in the area of the Nine Women’s Stone Circle in Stanton Lees at 1.38pm on June 22.
Isaac Clare-Watts, 26, from Nottingham, was pronounced dead at the scene. Polish national Szymon Babynko has been charged with Clare-Watts’ murder, police said.
Babynko, of Commonwealth Way, London, appeared at Derby Justice Center on Monday and was charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in relation to the incident in Hady Lane, Chesterfield, on Thursday.
The 23-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, age and address during the brief hearing.
District judge Jonathan Taff remanded Babynko in custody ahead of a hearing at Derby Crown Court on Wednesday.
The 41-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder following Clare-Watts’ death, was released on bail last week.
Police have set up a public portal for a major incident where members of the public can send information to officers.
