US President Donald Trump on Monday (June 29) criticized the Supreme Court’s decision allowing mail-in ballots to be counted after Election Day, saying it was “staggering” and “very harmful to honest elections.” On Monday, the court rejected a Republican challenge to a five-day grace period for election day ballots in Mississippi, dealing a setback to Trump. In a 5-4 decision, the justices reversed a lower court decision that found the Mississippi law inconsistent with U.S. statutes governing the timing of federal elections for the presidency, Senate and House of Representatives.
