Bill Maher praises Trump for how he confronts media in interviews

Talk show host Bill Maher praised President Donald Trump during Monday’s episode of “Club Random” and said he was happy to see him not confronting reporters.
Maher has a long, checkered history with Trump; He joked about it when he attended a White House dinner and offered a list of insults the president had hurled at him over the years. But while Maher did not shy away from criticizing the president, he specifically praised him for his unique penchant for direct conflict with journalists and said contentious feelings toward the press were something he could relate to.
“And it’s funny, you want to tell the media and I’m not interested in anything because you don’t want to get into a fight with them,” Maher said. talked to his guestactor Kevin Spacey. “But sometimes when I see Trump talk his whole inner monologue without doing this, without doing that kind of thing, it’s like he’s going to say something, and the thing that comes to my mind is, I wanted to say this.”

Maher recalled one specific example: “When someone upsets him in an interview, he says, ‘You’re a terrible person!’ he said.
“‘I can’t deny… there was a moment when I was thinking exactly that,'” Maher said, listing a series of alleged examples: “‘You’re a terrible person,’ ‘That’s not a sincere question,’ ‘That’s a caught up thing,’ ‘That’s a virtue signaling thing,’ ‘You don’t believe that yourself.’ ‘But I’m not doing it.'”

“He’s not our president,” Maher said, appearing to praise Trump for not bowing to reporters.
Maher accepted the Mark Twain award at the Kennedy Center on Sunday; This was another example of how their relationship contained both praise and insults.

Maher and impressionist Matt Friend responded with Friend impersonating Trump, asking, “Why are we giving this underrated lightweight scumbag the Mark Twain Trophy?” The Washington Post reported.
The friend depicting Trump insisted he was more deserving of the award and even broke into the Trump dance.
