The CBI has arrested IPS officer Deepak Gahlawat in connection with the ₹3 crore bribery case, allegedly linked to its investigation into a fake drug manufacturing racket, officials said on Wednesday (July 1, 2026).
They said Mr. Gahlawat, who was posted as a regional director in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) at the time of the alleged crime, was accused of helping a Puducherry-based businessman achieve a positive outcome in the CBI investigation by using his alleged influence over agency officials in return for bribes.

The case stems from an entrapment operation carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in June, in which Delhi Police Crime Branch Inspector Pradeep Singh and his alleged middleman, Mr. Rajkumar, were arrested.
The agency had also registered an FIR against Singh, Mr. Rajkumar and businessman N. Raja in the case.
