A new towering roller coaster currently under construction at Six Flags Great Adventure has officially become the tallest structure at the New Jersey theme park, and it’s going to get even taller.

Six Flags Great Adventure confirmed to Fox News Digital that the attraction, now known as Project Purple, has climbed more than 1,020 feet as construction continues ahead of its planned 2027 debut.

“We are excited about the progress being made on the project now known as Project Purple,” a park spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

“To date, the structure has climbed more than 320 feet and continues to rise, making it already the tallest structure at Six Flags Great Adventure. Once completed, it will be among the tallest roller coasters in the world.”

Construction is continuing as planned, according to the park, and crews are continuing vertical work on the bright purple coaster that can be seen for miles.

According to reports, construction is expected to continue through 2026 before the train undergoes several months of testing ahead of its planned 2027 opening.

Project Purple is being built nearly two years after the demolition of Kingda Ka, the park’s iconic 120-metre-high launch coaster, before it is to be removed in early 2025.

Although Kingda Ka is gone, Six Flags has stated that the new attraction is designed to offer a similarly exciting experience and offer a variety of ride elements not currently available elsewhere in North America, according to reports.
