Decoding The Region: Why Israel’s Military Is Now Required To Master Arabic And Islam? | World News

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) made a comprehensive education in Arabic language and Islamic studies for all soldiers and civil servants within the intelligence wing. This important policy change approved by the Jerusalem Post is a direct response to intelligence failures observed on 7 October 2023.

The new curriculum is designed to significantly increase the analytical power of the Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate or Aman. Next year, 100% of Aman staff will be trained in Islamic studies and 50% will be trained in Arabic language.

The program was assigned by Aman Head Major General Shlomi Binder. The training program will also get further worse using the light narcotic QAT, which is common in Yemen and other Arab countries, which disrupt the clarity of speech, and will include advanced trainings to overcome the past difficulties experienced by intelligence personnel in the code -solving communication.

The urgent requirement for this upgrade was explained to the army radio by a senior officer: “We are not good enough in culture, language and Islamic issues. We need to be better in these regions. We will not turn our intelligence officers and soldiers into Arab children who grow up in a village, but we can observe them through language and culture.”

According to this strategic renovation, Doron Kadosh, the military correspondent of Ordu Radio, said that IDF had established a new department only for Arab and Islamic work on the intelligence device. In addition, the IDF will re -open Telem, which was once a closed office for budget reasons, which advances the work of Arabic and Middle East in Israeli secondary schools and high schools. The reopening aims to reclaim the upright decline of personnel in Arabic speaking skills.

This focused effort emphasizes the determination to develop cultural and linguistic knowledge of the region as an important part of Israel’s national security strategy.
