Username row: After Meta, Centre issues notices to Telegram, Signal – The Economic Times Video
Expanding the investigations on the ‘Username’ feature, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has now sent a notification to Telegram and Signal after publishing a notification to Meta regarding the launch of the feature on WhatsApp. Both Telegram and Signal were asked to explain the “username” feature and the safeguards it takes against impersonation and abuse. Recently, Telegram faced a week-long ban in India ahead of the NEET-UG re-examination in June.
