A spokesman for Boral confirmed that the freight train was operated by its rail services partner “with its equipment”.

“The site is currently under the management of NSW Police and rail regulators,” the spokesperson told NewsWire.

“We understand the inconvenience experienced by the traveling public and are committed to working closely with the relevant authorities and our rail services partner to help resolve the incident.”

No injuries were reported.

Berrima Road was closed in all directions as emergency services worked to clear the scene.
