AIADMK complains to Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar over ‘inaction’ on its petitions on ‘horse-trading’.

The AIADMK has complained to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar that no action has been taken yet on the memorandum regarding alleged horse-trading by the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
On May 30, party’s agriculture wing secretary and Assembly ‘Agri’ SS Krishnamurthy and Rajya Sabha Member M. Dhanapal submitted the memorandum to the Governor. After presenting another memorandum to Mr Arlekar on Saturday evening, Mr Krishnamurthy told reporters that it was not a follow-up to the memorandum he had submitted to his party’s Speaker JCD Prabhakar. He added that he called on the Governor to take immediate action upon his party’s presentation on the issue.
The party’s MP IS Inbadurai (Rajya Sabha), who was also present during the meeting with Mr Arlekar, later said: Hindu He said his party had demanded an “independent investigation” into the matter. MDMK general secretary Vaiko and Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary P. Shanmugam had also made observations on the issue, apart from the complaint filed by TVK at Triplicane police station.
Mr. Inbadurai stated that his party had also drawn the Governor’s attention to the dispute, which reported the presence of two private individuals in the Cabinet meeting. This “constituted a breach” of the Official Secrets Act.
He recalled that one of the reasons for the dismissal of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in January 1991 was the controversy over secret matters and leaking of the government’s measures to control the activities of militants in Sri Lanka. Mr. Inbadurai added that the party had verbally informed the Governor about private individuals who allegedly had access to initial police intelligence reports.
