Housing and Urban Development Minister B. Rajkumar inspected the progress of various ongoing development works and water projects in Cuddalore Corporation on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
The Minister, accompanied by Cuddalore MP M. Vishnu Prasad and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, inspected various works carried out under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, which included laying of pipelines to provide protected drinking water to households in 18 districts in Manjakuppam and construction of a 12 million liter capacity overhead water storage tank in Sorakalpattu at an expenditure of ₹28.67 crore.
The minister also inspected the ongoing construction of Anna Market in Cuddalore. The market is being built at an estimated cost of ₹ 5.03 crore and will include 120 stores. He also studied the construction of a two-story aquarium with built-in temperature control systems.
Mr. Rajkumar also supervised the construction of a sewage treatment plant at Devanampattinam at an estimated cost of ₹43.45 crore and an Animal Birth Control (ABC) center at Pachaiyankuppam. He instructed the authorities to speed up the work, ensure quality and complete the work within the stipulated time. He said that the roads damaged due to the laying of drinking water pipelines should be repaired immediately.
