Mexico City weather LIVE: England World Cup delay threat as maps show | World | News

Storms hit Mexico City three and a half hours before England’s World Cup match against Mexico, which sparked debate about bringing the game forward despite storm forecasts.
England’s match kicks off in the early hours of Monday morning UK time after FIFA’s governing body opted not to make a bid to bring the game forward six hours to avoid disruption by storm forecasts in Mexico City.
The Mexican weather service said there was an 80% chance of thunderstorms at 17:00 local time (12:00 BST) and a 60% chance at 18:00 (1:00 BST).
At around 2.30pm (21.30 BST), heavy rain and thunderstorms greeted England and Mexico fans outside the Estadio Azteca ahead of a tough World Cup qualifying match.
